Safety First: Designing for Human-Robot Collaboration
How Aegis Shield uses predictive modeling to make shared workspaces safe by design.

The promise of collaborative robotics has always been tempered by a hard constraint: humans and heavy machinery don't mix well. Traditional safety approaches — cages, light curtains, emergency stops — work, but they limit the very flexibility that makes cobots valuable.
Aegis Shield takes a different approach. Instead of reacting to proximity violations, it predicts them. By modeling human motion trajectories and robot intent simultaneously, the system can slow, reroute, or pause operations before a conflict occurs.
Our risk scoring engine considers dozens of factors: approach velocity, workspace geometry, task criticality, and historical interaction patterns. The result is a safety envelope that's dynamic rather than static — tight when needed, permissive when safe.
We're currently validating Aegis Shield in a pilot program with two manufacturing partners. Early data shows a 94% reduction in near-miss events compared to traditional zone-based safety systems.
